- Fields of Study:
- 1. The theory and practice of phylogenetic inference, especially the
relationship between evidence and discovery, a priori and a posteriori weighting,
taxonomic congruence and total evidence (both the sampling of terminal taxa and
phylogenetically informative characters), and the nature of accuracy and
confidence in hypothesis choice.
- 2. The importance of ontogeny as a constraining force in evolution and as a source of macroevolutionary phenomena.
- 3. Vicariance biogeography, particularly the development of parsimony methods.
- 4. The higher classification of amniotes, with emphasis on squamates.
