Members of the Duda lab use a variety of ecological and molecular approaches to explore the evolutionary history and diversification of marine molluscs, particularly those of the marine gastropod genus Conus. We are currently engaged in projects aimed at examining the phylogenetic relationships of Conus, patterns of diversification of widespread Conus species in the Indo-Pacific, evolution of feeding specializations of Conus, and the evolution of conotoxin gene families. The work we do involves a substantial amount of lab and field work as well as a variety of population genetic, phylogenetic, molecular evolutionary and statistical analyses.
